Isi artikelIn the late 1980 s , when philippa garety and I both began to carry out studies of delusions, research on individual symptoms of psychosis was seen as more than a little eccentric by most psychologists and psychiatrics interested in several mental illness. At the time, there was an almost complete dearth of research on the topic, as attested to by the contents of oltamanns & maher's (1998) edited book delusional beliefs, which was fully of ideas but short on data. Garety & freeman are to be congratulated for their comprehensive review article, which is a kind of end of term report for a decade of effort. Their general conclusion, which is that good progress has been made but we must all try harder, cannot be faulted.
