Isi artikelLearning style is a term getting more and more popularity in education. This development leads to the creation of many new measurement instruments, each claiming to be the best to recognize and measure anybody's learning style. It's also regrettable that some even abandon the need to fulfill the reliability, validity and stability of tests results. With these situations in mind, the author is keen to test the reliability and validity of a new sensory modality measurement instrument namely the VARK (Visual, Aural, Read / Write and Kinesthetic) isntruemnt (Fleming, 2002). Subjects were 178 freshmen obtained through a whole population sampling. Results reveal the VARK reliability coefficient is 0,7076 for multioption variable and 0,8132 for checklist. The validity test shows that all VARK items are statistically significant on p < 0,05 (2 tailed). Besides that, there are significant positive correlation coefficients between different measurement periods (p < 0,01 ; 2 tailed). It was also revealed that there is no subject's VARK score difference, even VARK was presented in either multioption or checklist formats, subjects tend to get same scores, reasons of which are discussed.
