Isi artikelAs one of the recent inventories on learning modalities, VARK (Fleming, 2002) attempts to classify individuals according to their sensory modalities in receiving, processing and transferring information. The acronym VARK stands for visual, aural, read / write, and kinesthetic sensory modalities. This study attemps to construct the VARK preference profile of freshment. Through a purposive samplign procedure, freshmen (N - 533) from four different faculties (pharmacy, economics, psychology and polytechnic) participated in completing the VARK, inventory. In contrary to previous studies, results show a difference in VARK preferences according to gender, previous high school study interest, and current study program. Males prefer kinesthetic modality more than females, freshmen from the physics & mathematic study interests prefer the kinesthetic modality as well, while the freshmen in pharmacy and psychology prefer the aural and read / write modality. These differences and variations of VARK preferences are discussed.
