Though the development of formal religion is still going on, and monotheistic concepts have been introduced, nonethelesss animistic - based practices still exist. Spirits, are still assumed to be playing roles in improving human life. Even now devotional visits and rituals in front of graves becomes more frequent. A rather big religio - magic ritual is conducted in front of mbah jugo and jono hraves at mount (mt. kawi), western malang. A more complex practice is the religio - magic followed by religio - sexual practices which are executed at mt. kemukus, where the late his excellency prince samudro rests in peace. Rituals contain "a - thousand hopes" and are formulated to obtain "blessings". After obtaining religio -magical and religio - sexual contentment, the pilgrims are convinced to be able to overcome their various problems in life, including life crisis. It seems that some people still depend on irrational emotional life, lacking the ability life crisis. Therefore religio - sexual practices are not demed as a deviation, due to belief that such acts are blessed by the worshipped holy spirit. Actually sexual relationship between man and women though not husband and wife, are regard as sacred and divine.
