Tuberculosis is one of the leading chronic communicable diseases posing major problems in public health. Eventhough the BCG immunization coverage has been about 90 percent, WHO in its Annual Report on Global TB Control 2003 states that there are 22 high-burden countries worldwide, where Indonesia is estimated to have the third highest number of TB cases after India and China.
