For many educators and researchers, collaborative learning, often supported with or based on technology, appears to be one of the most promising models to enhance social forms of learning but also to achieve desired learning results at an individual level. At best collaborative learning situations seem to provide a natural setting for self-explanation and explaining to others as well as other forms of knowledge articulation, which have been shown to demonstrate positive effects for learning.
