Several factors can cause congenital defects, i.e: genetic factor, enviorement factor. combination of both, as well pregnancy with more than one fetus. congenital defect could happen in three phase, i.e : clevage phase, organogenesis phase and fetal phase. these factors can be prevented by avoiding intrafamilial marriage, maintaining food care of pregnancy, eating well balanced food, taking good care of health and avoiding fators that could couse congenital defect. early diagnose of congenital defect can be detected by routine ante-natal care, ultrasonography and if needed, amniosintesis or fetoscopy. genetic and physiologic counseling is also important for newly wed in decision making and mental preparing in taking care and bringing up their children.
