As an effort to improve the quality of alumni of medical faculty so that they can fulfill the need and demand of the community, medical faculty of the Indonesian Catholic Unversity Atma Jaya has decided to implement problem based learning (PBL) besides the conventional curriculum (hybrid curriculum). the first trial of PBL was implemented at the even semester of 2001/2002. the second trial was implemented to the entire student enrolled on year 2001/2002 and 2002/2003 at the even semester of 2002/2003. the PBL implementation used a module PAIN as a topic of year 2002 and ANEMIA as a topic of year 2001. each topic consisted of three cases. the PBL was conducted during the even semester of 2002/2003 for two hours per week. it was started with lectures given by the experts from the several related subject matters as an introduction and followed by group discussion.
