We had the good fortune to participate as judges for the final round of the 2001 university of Minnesota learning software design competition. the competition serves an impotant standards-setting function for the field of educational technology by recognizing examples of excellent educational and training software. in this article, we describe our experiences, reflect on what we learned, and consider what the future might bring for the field of intructional software.
