Poverty alleviation is still one of the biggest challenges face by the government of Indonesia. The government needs to initiate a short, medium and long term strategy of poverty alleviation. Such strategy should aimed at reducing the number of poor as well as reducing the risk of being poor, or the vulnerability to poverty. This necessitates the establishment of a social safety net; unemployment and pension benefit and policies to promote human capital.
