this article updates the tennyson and rasch linking theory, first published in 1998. the linking theory proposes that instructional design can improve learning outcomes if there is an established link between learner mental process and the means of instruction, delivery, and assessment. the linking theory is composed of the behavioral, cognitive and constructivist theories of learning and their related intructional prescriptions.
