Indonesia has shown poor economic performance due to the lack of new investment, private investment in particular. The government was also widely criticized for its lackluster response to widespread calls to cut red tape and make the country more attractive to investore in this election year is likely to continue until the new government is securely in place. The next government must take measures not only to ensure thet investment in general provides full economic benefits, but also to promote policies that help improve technological capabilities and local skills.
