This article discusses the use of applied cognitive task analysis (ACTA) to interview novices and gain insight into their cognitive skills and domain, " searching using the internet" it reviews attempts to modify ACTA, which is intended to capture data and information from experts as part of an intructional design process. part of a larger study regarding novice use of the internet and information technology, a critique of the application is given, along suggestions on modifications for using the methodology.
