Corrosion control of steel on sea water can be done by changing the system potential into free corrosion area such as immune and passive area. Cathodic protection is the way of corrosion control by decreasing the potential into immune area with electrons flooding. API 5L X52 steel has natural corrosion potential at - 49mV with corrosion rate at 0.1243 mdd. By giving - 1000 mV potential, the corrosion rate will decreased at significant value. High carbon steel is vulnerable from hydrogen embrittlement.
