Isi artikel
Rapid information exchange demands a method to reduce information size without changing the content of the information itself. PCM system is a common standard used to convert an analog signal to a digital signal. Differential Pulse Code Modulation(DPCM) is a modulation which sends the difference between the original signal and its predicted value. The difference is quantized then the results is coded for transmitting. The difference is also the input for 2nd order predictor which produces a new predicted value with certain prediction coefficient. The new predicted value is compared to the next input signal which makes the number of transmitted bit less. As result, the efficiency of transmission bandwidth usage increased.
