Isi artikelThis research consider a psychological term, which is emotional exhaustion, as an influential facotr toward the strategic human resource management. Emotional exhaustion is the result of anger in a social situation, which is locked with no way out. The most common source of the emotional exhaustion is feeling frustrated, depressed, sad, hopeless, stressed, apathetic to the job, skeptical, being burdened by the obligations and unable to serve, easy to get mad with no reason, and easy to get disappointment. This research was done toward some lecturers of several private universities, colleges and academincs in KOPERTIS XI kalimantan, which are spread out in several cities, such as banjarmasin, pontianak, samarinda, balikappan and palangkaraya. The focus of the research was on the emotional exhaustion of the lecturers. The samples of the research, which are taken from 2191 population using the slovin formula are 340 people. From that number of people who fulfill the requirements were 288 people or about 84,71%. The data analysis used the structural equation modeling (SEM). The results show five specific findings L i. the positive influence of the workload on the emotional exhaustion ii. the positive influence of the family environment on the emotional exhaustion iii. the negative influence of the reward on the emotional exhaustion. Then, the other results of this research are : a. the negative influence of role conflicts on the emotional exhaustion. descriptively, 64% of private university lecturers have experienced the emotional exhaustion with various stages. This research can be developed to a deeper research in a different front liner. Emotional exhaustion will always be actual to be the cause of various kinds of work performance declining.
