This article is based on a research aiming at discovering tutors’ perception towards tutorial implementation in Universitas Terbuka (UT). Tutors play an important role to the success of Universitas Terbuka’s students. As students in a distance education environment, UT’s students have responsibilities to manage their learning process. Tutors can help students to master learning contents and to stay in the system. However, it is common to find UT’s tutors carry out their responsibilities half-heartedly. Most cited reasons for the situation is the lack of tutors’ preparation. However, research conducted in South Sumatera on 83 tutors for primary school teacher’s perception toward their role in leading the path to students success prove that the tutors believe in the tutorial system. Data was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive analysis.
