Due to time constraint and large scope of material that should be covered, a diagnostic test contributes significantly to Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) preparatory program. Based on the results of this test revealing learners' strengthes and weaknesses. TOEFL instructors may plan and design appropriate and effective teaching programs from which learners will be able to benefit the most. However, an accurate test results can be gained only when the test itself is welldevised. Hence in the view that diagnostic test is crucial in TOEFL programs, that structure often cause difficulties, and that only a well constructed diagnostic test provides accurate information on learning strengths and weaknesses, this study attemps to analyse to what extend Preparatory Course book covers the structure types tested in TOEFL test. The findings of this study wukk sevr as an evaluation of the diagnostic test of heinemann Preparatory TOEFL. Course book as well as framework of consideration for TOEFL instructors in designing a future TOEFL diagnostic test.
