Teacher's creativity is needed in teaching reading comprehension. This assumption is concluded based on astudy that revealed that most students and teacher candidates of English are having serious in both constructing and providing answers to inferential and analytical questions. This paper discusses a method for teaching reading through exploitation of narrative literary materials and constructing teaching assessment in the form of questions constructed based on Barrett's taxonomy of reading comprehension. narrative literary texts can be used as valuable teaching materials for reading because of the advantages it offers. Teachers as facilitators are also demanded to be able to construct owm constructed questions that enable them to measure students' comprehension level on each comprehension level, especially on literal and inferential level. However it is essential to bear in mind that individuality in students' answer, especially in the referential level may arise due to the polyinterpretable nature of the literary texts itself.
