Human resources are key of success to develop a nation. The government must pay attention to the education of the people. Schools as the place where people are educated take the key role to develop human resources. And to anticipate the future of the nation, especially in the era of globalisation, Indonesia government, the department of education, urges each province of Indonesia to have a school of excellent (sekolah unggul). This article discusses the role of the school of excellent in the development of the nation.
