Isi artikelTwo studies have been carried out with university students in Jakarta, Indonesia. In the first study (study-1) the objective was to identify learning styles of the Indonesian students. While in the second study (study-2) the objectives were intended to investigate (1) the effects of metacognitive training in improving students' learning strategies and students' academic achievement, and (2) the differential effects of two instructional procedures, i.e. reciprocal teaching and cooperative learning in improving students' learning strategies and students' academic achievement. The results of these studies indicated that students in Indonesian higher education tend to employ more a reproductive activity and passive directed learning styles.
