Isi artikel
Differences between environmental experts and four environmental novice groups (three academic and one student), N = 85, in use of problem solving strategies of reasoning, subproblem breakdown, problem development, solution development, and exploring solution implications when verbally responding to an energy environmental issue were investigated. The results showed that environmental experts scored significantly higher than environmental novices in use of all problem solving strategies except subproblem development. These results imply that strategies to problem solve multidisciplinary issues are domain-specific skills; skills not acquired by generalizing skills from related domains. Therefore they require special development.
