In the considered work is researched the cracks of the steel coiling spring. The proposed research is the case study for analyzing cracks of the steel coiling spring, which is used as a component of the shock absorber for motorcycle. Object of the research is the steel coiling spring that has failed to form to become a good coiling spring according to the standard and the good coiling spring. The steel wire diameter of the considered coiling spring is 3.2 millimeter. Purpose of the research is to analysis the cause of cracks of the steel wire coiling spring and to search the right solution for solving the problem. For researching of the considered work are used Scanning Electron Microscope & Energy Dispersive Analysis X-RAY (SEM & EDAX), Electron Probe Micro Analyzer (EPMA), Metallographic testing, Vickers Hardness testing. Those instruments are used to test the materials of the failed coiling spring and the good coiling spring.
