Isi artikelRetrieval of 3D surface segments in spatial database systems as used in molecular biology. Algorithm for 3D surface segments based on the approximation segments using multi - parametric functions. Method can be adjusted to individual requirements of specific applications. Evaluation of similarity queries, developed filter function based on spatial index structures that guarantee no false drops. Filter function evaluation requires new query type with multidimensional ellipsoids as query regions. Algorithm used to efficiently perform ellipsoid queries on class of spatial index structures that manage their directory by rectilinear hyper rectangles. Experiments show both, effectiveness and efficiency method using sample application from molecular biology.
