The monetary crisis is rooted in the private sector. Surprisingly the International Monetary Fund (IMF) proposed the squeezing of the budget and implementation of tight monetary policy. Only after the signing of the letter of intent did IMF focus more on dealing with the financial sector, i.e setting uo restructuring of the banking sector. This process should be adopted to ensure successful restructuring of Indonesian banking, which is both time and fund consuming. Ultimately, transparency and tight supervsion of banking are compulsory to bring the nation put of its prolonged economic crisis.
