The Indonesian government budget drafted for fiscal year 1999 / 2000 has been fairly optimistics with a zero-growth projection. Being overly optimistic, the government's taxation target is on threesome income and value added taxes, which is income tax 57% higher than las fiscal year's budget and based on oil price of USD 10.50 per barrel. The new budget will be balanced at Rp. 218.2 trillion or 83% if the 1998 / 1999 fiscal budget of Rp. 263.89 trilion in terms of local currency. In 1999 possible hindrances to indonesia;s pollitical economy will be the generla elctions in June 7 and presidential elections to follow in November 1999.
