This article illustrated the contribution of higher education to earnings differentials between university and high school graduates in the labor market. The findings are based on the tracer study of university graduates of four private universities, i.e : Atmajaya, Tarumanegara, Parahyangan, Widya Mandala Universities and high school graduates who worked in the same corporations with the graduates of those four private universities. The findings clearly show that about 50% of the observed earnings differential between university and high school graduates the labor market is due to education, while the other 50% is due to other factors that include socio-economic background, sex, marital status, occupation job, training working hours, employer, economic sector and region. This contribution seems to be closely related with the qualification of those four private universities.
