A remote sensing technique was carried out to analyze food stock in this study. The food stock in each district in java was calculated from food consumption data and remotely sensed information of agriculture production quarterly. The paddy and second crop production was estimated by using crop radiance values and weather information from NOAA AVHRR data. As a result, quarterly food stock information in 1999 for all district in Java was predicted using 1998 to 1999 multi-date NOAA AVHRR data. Monitoring results showed minus food stock especially in 3 rd quarter of 1999 for district Sukabumi, Wonosobo, and Pacitan, but overall Java had surplus of food in all quarters of 1999.
