Indonesia became an independent country in the middle of twentieth century. It has great potential to disintegrate as a nation due to its diverse community. In the midst in universal values that cpuld help neutralise such differences, such as 1928 youth national declaration and Pancasila way of life. However, recent developments showed escalation in the national unity. Contmplating on Indonesia's independence proclamation in August 17, 1945, we must continuosly make an effort to build consensus, equality, and respect other opinions. In this way the value of Indonesia's independence in the context of national esprit society. To avoid this conflict, it is necessary to consider the past, the present, and the future of culture development. The most important point is that Pancasila and 1945 Constitution as main sources of national development should be further delineated.
