Isi artikelDue to the irefutable biblical, evangelical, and theological foundation of the option for the poor, trademark of liberation theology, and given the dtrength of its own internal evidence, the only strategy to fight against it has been to attempt to de naturalize it, turning it into something preferential and trying to show that its foundation is the gratuitousness of God. this would make it sesceptible to becoming misplaced into the order of charity, which tends to be politically conservative and assistance based. Some liberation theologians seem to have become comfortable with this strategy. The author denounces this and shows that the option for the poor is not preferential but partial and exclusive, and that it is not based on God's gratuitousness but on God's justice.
