The principle of Indonesia unity or the Third Basic Principle has embodied the concept of nationalism of one's love to the nation or motherland. It envisage the need to continuously foster national unity and integrity. Pancasila and the 1945 constitution demand that Indonesia avoid superiority feelings based on ethnicity, ancestry and skin color. In 1928, Indonesian youths have pledged that there is only one country, one nation and one language where the Indonesian coat of arms enshrines the symbol of unity in diversity of Bhineka Tunggal Ika. thus, it is expected that any social and economic differences among different ethnic groups shold not affect the unity and integrity of Indonesia.
