Entrepreunership is very different from simply owning a small business. In the 50s and 60s it was normal to own a small grocery sho, gas station, or barber shop. There were even self-employed artists, writers and others. But in the 80s there was a business revolution powered by innovation in numbers, computers, direct mail, and even plastics. Ordinary people on their own or through their pension or mutual funds were making money in the stock market or selling houses that increased to five fold in value. Nowadays, everybody without special expertise can increase business value and volume by tens, hundreds or even thousands through e-commerce.
