The aim of the study was to find how much the interest of Jakarta's high school students in entering Tourism College, and the relationship between their interest and school-background. The study used 720 clusters sample out of 7480 high school students in Central Jakarta. The field study was done in 2002 from September to Nopember.Descriptive analysis showed that 74.6% students were interested in entering Tourism College. However, by inferential analysis by using Chi Square (X2) with alpha = 0.05 and 15 degree of freedom (df), the study showed the relationship between students interest and their individual school-background. How ever the connection is weak because the Coefficient Contingencu is (Cc) only 0.33. It means that the relationship between them is not very significant. The conclusion of this survey is to suggest to every Tourism College Dierctor to have a further research in finding relationship between interest and preference of speciality inTourism College that may attract them to prefer and to enter Higher Education at Tourism College.
