Isi artikelThe present experiment examined a method of improving the self-confidence of low self-confident children in elementary school classrooms. Results indicated that low self-confident students in four treatment classrooms increased significantly on three behavioural measures of self-confidence and on classroom grades when compared to the control students. A separate part of the study demonstrated modelling of self-confident behaviour occurred only when low self-confident students watched other previously low self-confident students improve in confidence and did not occur when low self-confident students merely observed high self-confident students behaving confidently. These modelling results indicate that in the naturalistic environment, modelling is mediated by initial model-modeller perceived similarity.
