The purpose of the study was : 1) to evaluate fishpond land suitability , and 2) to examine land quality criteria on conventional fishpong land suitability. The method used will explore and integrate Landsat-TM data and Geographical Information System (GIS) with parametric approach model. The results of the study showed that : 1) the fishpond potential area for development is estimated about 22,530.5 hectare (of suitable land) and about 20,966.2 hectare (of suitable moderate land) , 2) the land suitability criteria of conventional fishpond in the study location were similar.
