Jakarta as capital and centre of all activities has an air pollution level of serious levels. Based on several studies, with increase of motor vehicles around 15% per year, these vehicles contribute to air population around 98.8% (373,662 tons per year). Based on studies by BAPEDAL and JICA (1997) identified high concentrations of lead, suspended particularte matter (SPM). hydrocarbon, nitrogen oxide, and carbon monoxide, that all are hazardous to health. Mechanism of air pollution is complex, due to polluted location administrative boundaries and is only influenced by geographical and meteorological condition.
