Social beneficial of appropriate institutions i.e. inevstment-based growth strategy and innovation-based growth strategy, to foster economic growth is a long discussion in the literature, This paper provides a theoretical framework related to institutions and economic growth which based on Acemoglu, Aghion and Zilibotti (2002,2003) model. Further it discusses the properties of the model equilibrium and social beneficial, the implications of the equilibrium for growth, convergence patterns and non-convergence traps. The role of government in creating appropriate institutions for convergence and political economy traps is ecplained along with the application of the model of appropriate institutions and technological convergence for decribing the relationship between vertical integration and technological convergence.
