As a result, Spanish-speaking researchers need to publish in English to maintain visibility. A study was conducted at the University of Cordoba, Spain, about the English composing processes and products of a group of Spanish researchers. Results suggest that the group (1) has a good grasp of the information structure of the English scientific article, (2) rarely undertakes structural revision, and (3) is primarily concerned with the precise expression of their thoughts in the foreign language. Although translation was used initially, most of the researchers opted to write at least part of the article directly in English.
