The security issues in the Asia Pacific continued to be the central focus in the study of international relations. The strategic interplay among the major powers continued. They all have strategic stakes to be maintained in the region, and it is due to their long term strategic interest that those major power fell the need to strengthen, if not perpetuate, their political as well as strategic and economic presence in the region. The article examines the strategic consequences of the long-term interest of the major powers on the stability and seturity of Northeast and Southeast Asia.
