Isi artikelInspection time (IT) indexes the ability to discriminate between test stimuli under conditions of varied and limited exposure time. Two experiments were conducted to replicate and extend previous findings. Experiment I replicated the basic finding of an IT / IQ relationship and the finding of a difference between subjects reporting use and non use of an apparent - movement strategy, the use of which diminishes the IT / IQ relationship. Experiment 2 varied a number of factors in attempts to remove the use of the apparent - movement strategy. Although none of these manipulations had the predicted effect of reducing strategy use, conditions were found in which subjects reporting strategy use showed more robust correlations to IQ than had been previously reported. In addition, significant task effects, practice effects, and bias effects are reported and discussed.
