Isi artikel
Multimedia plays an increasingly important role in education. Some people even promise that multimedia will bring us to the situation where "learning with effort" can be replaced by "learning with fun. " If this will not occur, then at least multimedia should make learning more effective. There are indeed some good reasons that make multimedia effective for education because multimedia seems to be well suited to essential characteristics of human learning. From a constructive view of human learning, multimedia obviously offers authentic learning situation and allows a learner to interact with a subject matter and allows self-directed exploratory learning. However, a question may arouse: when can it happen? This article then will specifically discuss the following questions: (a) when (i.e., under which conditions) is multimedia learning effective? (b) why is it effective? Practical and theoretical conclusions will be drawn.
