Noise damping with existing conventional adaptive filter needs two inputs. The first input is noise sample and the second one is signal with noise. Problem of the research is how to design and implement Expectation Maximization algorithm to damp coloured noise with audio signal without any noise reference data. The objective is to simulate Expectation Maximization algorithm using software and to get its performance in damping the noise that is mixed with audio noise with frequency range 200 Hz ? 20 kHz. The result shows that Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) that is the ratio between signal with signal with noise can be estimated to produce output signal without noise with high SNR.
