The history of science has shown that the product of inquiry depends much on the method used. An argument asserts that the social (historical) world cannot be studied using the quantitative methods of natural sciences. This article will examine this issue as related to psychology. A focus of discussion will be the possibility of benefiting from both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
