Harmonization investment law in the era of ASEAN free trade must be in accordance with principle of globalization which should include the existence of structural adjustment policies such as a sequence of deregulation, liberalization, debureaucratization and privatization. According to those trends as mentioned above, there is a need to study the influence of globalization economy upon the role of law. The issues of law in relation to globalization economy era can be define as a law barrier in the world of trade or commerce which can limit the free exchange of commodities amongst states such as : tariff protection, quoto barrier, commodity control, control of goods exchange, long wind trivial procedure of custom, government monopoly or another kind of monopoly. Harmonization of investment law along with arrangement of AFTA agreement in the era of AFTA 2003 focuses on legal protection and law assurance for investors who invest in indonesia. The study includes five elements role of law in economy development viz : stablity, predictability, fairness, education and special development abilities of the lawyer. These will accelerate economy development in indonesia and enhance competitive advantage to attrack investors from ASEAN country.
