Isi artikel
The complexity of language is such that teachers inevitably simplify when presenting language items and their uses. This can sometimes lead to difficulties later, including 'teacher-induced' errors from learners. An undogmatic atmosphere in the language classs, however, makes it possible to use such difficulties as a focus for further work. The example in this article concerns work on the formation and uses of 'reduced relative clauses' in scientific writing in English.
