Isi artikel
In conventional tests of their literary and language skills, students are frequently required to paraphrase and identify the context of a passage; to describe and discuss; and to evaluate and criticize. While appreciating the value and importance of such question-types, this article proposes that they should be supplemented by others which are more obviously language-based. Three examples are suggested and discussed. They deal with general comprehension, textual focus and personal response.
