Teachers who join teachers' groups are usually motivated by a desire for self-improvement . Co-operative Development offers an acessible but disciplined framework which teachers can use to draw on their own experience and understanding of their own situation. It is a style of interaction designed to allow two teachers to collaborate on furthering the ideas and plans of one of their pair. As such, it offers a practical wat of working towards the widely accepted goal of autonomous development. This paper gives a brief overview of the ideology, attitudes, and techniques of Co-operative Development as it has been introduced in different cultural contexts.
