Features films on video are an easily and contextually rich source of authentic material which can be exploited in the language classroom. This article provides a practical, detailed guide to producing and using classroom material which will, wothout diminishing a film's value as entartainment, promote fluency development as well as enhancing students' appreciation and understanding of the film. The rationale behind the procedures is expalined, and each task- and question-type is illustrated with examples from the film Stand By Me. The guidelines presented here have been used with students at intermediate levels and above, but the framework can be adapted for any level.
