The possibility of a relationship in modern society between family disorganization and recreational patterns is explored. Changes in modern recreation patterns from an individual to a dyadic participation unit, from homogeneous to heterogeneous participation by sexes, and from a goal of excellence to one of ecstasy may have implications which operate against family integration.
