Gambir railway station is a public transportation service in Jakarta. One of facilities provided is chair which located in peron area. From the preliminary studym it is foun some complaints from user about the chair, mostly about the limited space to sit, back and leg pain when it used for relative long time and uncomfortable leg position when sitting. For this reason, a study has been carried out to analyze the ergonomic side of waiting chair in Gambir station. Analysis is emphasized in 3 aspects : general, anthropometry and biomechanics. From the analysis, it is concluded that ideally the chair should be redesigned, mainly in the width of sitting area, the design and materials in back and hand support section, and the height of the chair. However, instead of total redesign, minor modification is suggested. The modification is stressed in the parts that have highest risk according to Risk Priority Number in FMEA analysis. The suggested modification are the usage of appropriate soft chair's base on the seat to cover the existing chair and removal of the hand support at the mid point of the chair to increase the seat capacity.
